For participants whose career paths will require deeper technical expertise, this course prepares them to confidently transition into more advanced, role-specific NRMCA training programs aligned to their professional development tracks.

- Describe the role of concrete in the built environment.
- Explain the basic composition of concrete, including the roles of cement, supplementary cementitious materials, alternative cements, aggregates, water, and admixtures in the mixing process.
- Describe the key properties of fresh and hardened concrete, such as workability, strength, durability, and curing requirements.
- Identify common concrete mixing methods and the importance of proper proportioning for achieving desired performance.
- Detail proper concrete placement, finishing, and curing techniques to ensure quality and longevity.
- Recognize common concrete issues, such as cracking, segregation, and improper curing, and suggest basic troubleshooting methods.
- Apply fundamental safety principles when handling, mixing, and working with concrete to minimize health and environmental risks.
- Conduct basic tests for fresh and hardened concrete (e.g., slump test, air content, compressive strength) and interpret results to assess mix performance.
- ideas for managing tensions and dealing with colleagues in stressful environments.
