Mixer Driver Recruitment & Retention Survey

NRMCA’s Mixer Driver Recruitment and Retention Survey is sponsored by the Workforce Development Committee. It annually reflects the previous year’s statistics, including hiring rate, vacancy rate, hiring trends and challenges, and the projected hire for the current calendar year. It also reports retention rate, turnover rate, reasons for termination as well as reasons mixer drivers quit, and driver demographics, including average age, tenure rate, internal job mobility, and union membership rate. Finally, the survey gathers numerous data points about first-year mixer drivers.

Sample data is gathered anonymously in early summer and the report is released every fall at ConcreteWorks. Analysis includes comparative statistics by year, region, and company size. An Executive Summary is made available in Concrete InFocus magazine. CLICK HERE for the members-only full report from previous years.

NRMCA Quality Survey

The NRMCA Quality Survey is sponsored by the RES Committee. Only by measuring quality it is possible to improve it and this survey provides a means for companies to do so. The survey can be used to quantify the benefits of improved quality. The survey establishes industry benchmarks that impact quality for frequency of testing, quality control personnel, quality documentation, and equipment monitoring. Producers responding to the survey can compare their systems to these industry benchmarks and improve their processes if necessary. Survey responses of individual companies are kept confidential, while summarized survey responses are shared with all the survey participants.

  • An abbreviated report of the survey results is published in NRMCA’s Concrete InFocus magazine. Starting in 2017, quality surveys have been incorporated in NRMCA’s Annual Producer Excellence in Quality Award. For more information, contact NRMCA’s Karthik Obla at 703-706-4863.

NRMCA Regulatory Enforcement Survey

The annual Regulatory Enforcement Survey is conducted by the Safety, Environment and Operations (SEO) Department of the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA). Over the last ten years there has been an unprecedented increase in the amount of regulations being promulgated by federal regulatory agencies. This survey is meant to gauge regulatory action within the industry to determine what, if any, regulatory trends on specific issues, issue types, and geographic regions may exist. This information, which is submitted anonymously and confidentially, helps NRMCA better tailor its actions to address and/or combat any such issues, and to keep a finger on the pulse of when, where, how and why regulatory agencies are targeting and/or levying enforcement actions against the industry. Survey responses are collected at the beginning of each year in January and February, with the final survey report published in late spring.

For more information please contact NRMCA’s Gary Mullings or Kevin Walgenbach.

Safety Benchmarking Survey

NRMCA publishes an annual safety statistics benchmarking survey. A primary goal of the survey is to collect injury and illness information so that member companies have guidelines for comparison within the industry. The report from this survey will also serve to provide assistance to members with benchmarking systems already in place, and to help those who may wish to implement benchmarking in their respective companies.

Monthly Reporting of Key Metrics

NRMCA is now offering a new and valuable analytical tool – monthly real-time reporting of key metrics. This new reporting process will allow your organization to make key financial and operational decisions based on information that is provided by you and other NRMCA members real-time on a monthly basis. The information you provide will be aggregated with all other respondents, normalized for monthly comparative analysis and reported to you within days of your submission. It will help you build a database of key information that will become more valuable over time. The new reporting process includes:

  • Average sales price per CYD (standard mean)
  • Average sales price per CYD (weighted average based upon CYDs produced)
  • Average materials cost per CYD (standard mean)
  • Average materials cost per CYD (weighted average based upon CYDs produced)
  • Total licensed and insured ready mix trucks
  • CYD per ready mix truck

Key metrics and related data on a rolling Quarterly basis:
