The Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library: A Generational Project for America’s 250th

As part of NRMCA’s America250: Concrete – The Foundation of Our Nation campaign, NRMCA is proud to recognize members Dickinson Ready Mix, Amrize, MAPEI USA and Eco Material Technologies for their role in bringing the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library to life in Medora, North Dakota.

For Dickinson Ready Mix, the project became a true generational effort, spanning more than four and a half years of material development, testing and collaboration from start to finish. Throughout that process, the DRM team worked closely with Amrize, which supplied “Made in America cement” from its flagship Ste. Genevieve plant in Missouri and provided technical expertise to help develop the concrete mixtures required for the project.

Together with industry partner Benton Consulting Engineers, the teams worked to produce concrete capable of meeting the project’s demanding performance and sustainability requirements.

Building in the rugged North Dakota Badlands presented significant challenges, including extreme temperature swings, freeze-thaw conditions and high winds. The project also pursued ambitious sustainability goals, calling for concrete mixtures that could balance lower embodied carbon with the strength, durability and consistency needed for construction.

Through extensive testing and collaboration, Dickinson Ready Mix supplied concrete that exceeded both performance and sustainability expectations, while Amrize’s cement and technical support helped the team achieve the custom mix designs needed to meet those goals.

That commitment ultimately helped create a landmark designed to honor Theodore Roosevelt’s legacy and stand for generations to come.

Fittingly, the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library officially opened its doors on July 4, 2026 – America’s 250th birthday.

For Dickinson Ready Mix, Amrize, Mapei, Eco Material Technologies and the many partners involved, the opening marked the culmination of years of work and a lasting example of how collaboration across the ready mixed concrete industry continues to help build America’s story.
