In today’s aggressive, competitive environment, employees’ growth in skills and knowledge are critical factors for the sustainability and advancement of the ready mixed concrete industry. To not only help producers maintain their high standards but also remain cutting-edge, NRMCA annually provides over 50 industry-specific professional development education programs for employees of ready mixed concrete companies, contractors, and design firms.

Producers and their suppliers have volunteered to sit on NRMCA’s Educational Activities Committee since its establishment in 1995. The full Committee meets biannually and intermittently in Task Groups to offer NRMCA guidance and oversight.   Whether the group coordinates NRMCA educational workshops and certifications, develops information on available programs offered by allied organizations, or increases the effectiveness of NRMCA educational activities and publications, its goal remains to provide ready mixed concrete producers, contractors, and designers the opportunity to increase their knowledge and skills about concrete. It continually reviews existing programs for appropriateness and accuracy, encourages other NRMCA committees to develop needed educational activities and programs, coordinates schedules of NRMCA sponsored workshops and seminars, and markets them to maximize participation. It also supports industry leadership development, industry recruitment and retention strategies, and partnerships with State Affiliate Ready Mixed Concrete Associations and numerous other external groups that can enhance and impact the quality and quantity of ready mixed concrete learning opportunities.

One of the key projects the Educational Activities Committee is undertaking is an analysis of mixer driver recruitment and retention challenges. Over the past two years, three focus groups have met. For summaries of their work, please view the following:

EAC welcomes industry participation in this vital matter.
