Environmental Excellence Award application form.
Purpose
The National Ready Mixed Concrete Association’s Commitment To Environmental Excellence Awards competition offers producers national recognition for outstanding contributions to protecting the environment and maintaining sound management practice in their operations. Now in its
11th year, the program salutes companies that have not only met, but surpassed governmental compliance measures and demonstrated a commitment to environmental excellence through plant and staff investment.
Eligibility
Any member company of NRMCA in good standing, producing ready mixed concrete from a fixed plant location in the U.S., its territories or Canada is eligible to enter. Awards will be determined upon individual plant merit; companies may choose to enter plants from any or all of the three production volume categories. Portable plants do not qualify. Winners of the previous year’s awards program are not permitted to participate in this year’s contest, but may enter again in
the following year. Honorable mention honorees may enter the next year.
Awards
First Place and, where appropriate, Honorable Mention awards will be presented
to operators who have best demonstrated environmental excellence and innovative
management. Awards will be made in three categories based on the plant’s
previous year’s annual production volume. Winning entrants will be honored at an
awards presentation ceremony at the NRMCA Annual Convention. Winning and
Honorable Mention facilities will also be featured in an edition of Concrete
Products magazine.
Judging
A panel consisting of regulatory officials, industry and environmental
consultants will review entries. Entries will be judged based on a written
narrative covering 10 criteria. Judges depend heavily on photographs of
submitted plants to complete their evaluations. Participants are encouraged to
submit photographs that clearly demonstrate environmental systems and processes
and at least one photo that offers a broad view of the plant site.
