Throughout the year, NRMCA has conducted
benchmarking surveys for the industry. Below are some of the
surveys that we have compiled in alphabetical order:
Environmental Costs Survey
The ready mixed concrete industry is
required to comply with several federal regulations. This
survey evaluates the costs incurred by member companies to
conform to the standards. This survey measures the following
regulations: Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (Solid Waste Management), Clean Water Act (Water Quality & NPDES Permits), Clean Air Act Amendments of 1990 (Air
Quality), Emergency Planning and Community Right To Know
Act (Public Notifications) and Comprehensive Emergency Response
and Community Liability Act (Hazardous Materials Cleanup). The OES Committee
sponsors this survey. For more information, contact NRMCA's
Gary Mullings or 1-888-846-7622, ext. 1161.
Fleet Benchmarking Survey
The OES Committee sponsors NRMCA’s
Fleet Benchmarking Survey. This yearly survey reports on
maintenance costs, fleet age, fleet type and
personnel levels for supporting fleets. The results are reported in
Concrete InFocus magazine. For more information, contact NRMCA's
Gary Mullings or at 1-888-846-7622, ext. 1161.

Industry Data Survey
This highly popular survey collects
information on ready mixed concrete production and the costs associated with
the sales and support of concrete. This report is
only available to ready mixed
concrete producers that participate
in the survey. The survey reports on U.S. averages as well as regional
statistics. NRMCA’s Business Administration Committee sponsors this survey.
All information collected is received and compiled by an independent
certified public accounting firm and remains confidential.

IT Survey
NRMCA’s IT Survey measures and
reports on the level of adoption of various technologies in
the ready mixed industry. The report includes information on
computer based dispatching systems, batching systems, GPS
technologies and IT personnel. NRMCA’s Business Administration
Committee supports the survey. For more information, contact NRMCA's Lawrence

NRMCA Annual Compensation Survey The NRMCA Compensation Survey evaluates
a firm’s employee compensation structure by surveying companies across the U.S. on compensation packages and benefits
for all positions in an organization – salaried and
non-salaried. This report is only available to ready mixed concrete producers
that participate in the survey. NRMCA’s Business

NRMCA Quality Survey
The NRMCA Quality Survey is sponsored by the RES
Committee. Only by measuring quality it is possible to improve it and this
survey provides a means for companies to do so. The survey has a quality
measurement section which can be used to quantify the benefits of improved
quality. Several survey questions will establish industry benchmarks that impact
quality for frequency of testing, quality control personnel, quality
documentation, and equipment monitoring. Producers responding to the survey will
be able to compare their systems to these industry benchmarks and improve their
processes if necessary. Survey responses of individual companies will be kept
confidential, while summarized survey responses will be shared with all the
survey participants. A report of the survey results will be published in NRMCA’s
bimonthly Concrete InFocus magazine. For more information, contact
NRMCA's
Karthik Obla at 240-485-1163.
NRMCA Safety
Contest
NRMCA’s Safety Contest
is a per-plant contest open to all concrete batching facilities operated by
NRMCA member companies. For more information, contact NRMCA's Gary Mullings at
1-888-846-7622, ext. 1161 or by e-mail,

NRMCA SCM Survey
As part of a funded research project on increased
fly ash utilization in hydraulic cement concrete, NRMCA is tasked with
conducting a survey to better understand SCM use. SCM can consist of fly ash
meeting ASTMC618/AASHTO M295, slag cement meeting C989, and silica fume meeting
C1240.
This survey only pertains to SCM used in all
concrete supplied by a ready mixed concrete producer. It does not cover SCM use
in non concrete applications. The data will be kept confidential and only the
overall nationwide survey results will be shared with all survey participants
and other researchers.
Production Reporting Program
Successful businesses and organizations use
information to drive strategies and improve the odds for success. In many
industries, trade associations have the standing to collect and report valuable
cross-company data. The ready mixed concrete industry is no different. NRMCA and
many state and local associations currently conduct surveys on a range of
important topics, including production reporting. Now, an effort is underway to
increase the number of local, state and regional reports, while standardizing
the data collected so that compilation into a national report is possible. An
NRMCA Task Group has developed Guidelines to Conducting a Production Reporting
Program. State and local associations are encouraged to use and follow the
recommendations in the Guidelines. Click on the links below to download the
Guidelines in Microsoft Word or Adobe PDF format.

Safety Benchmarking Survey
NRMCA publishes an annual safety statistics benchmarking survey. A primary
goal of the survey is to collect injury and illness information so that member
companies have guidelines for comparison within the industry. The report from
this survey will also serve to provide assistance to members with benchmarking
systems already in place, and to help those who may wish to implement
benchmarking in their respective companies. For more information, contact NRMCA's
Gary Mullings or 1-888-846-7622, ext. 1161. |
