The National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA) proudly stands as a principal sponsor of CONEXPO-CON/AGG. This expansive show boasts nearly 3 million net square feet of exhibits, featuring an innovative information technology pavilion and dynamic live demonstrations spread throughout the exhibit areas.

Uniting the Construction Industry

CONEXPO-CON/AGG serves as a vital meeting point, bringing together contractors, materials producers, and industry perspectives. It holds the distinction of being the largest exposition for the construction, aggregates, and ready-mixed concrete industries ever held in the Western Hemisphere.

A Showcase of Construction Advancement

More than just a trade show, CONEXPO-CON/AGG vividly illustrates the remarkable progress within the construction sector. It represents both the historical achievements of the industry and a glimpse into its promising future.

The Genesis of CONEXPO

CONEXPO’s journey began as two distinct events: CONEXPO and CON/AGG. The first CONEXPO made its debut in Ohio in 1909. Initially known as a “Road Show,” it was considered a bold and “hazardous experiment.” The forty pioneering exhibitors showcased “amazing new devices” capable of accomplishing the work of fifteen horse-drawn units, signaling a significant leap in construction technology.

Early Sponsorship and Growth of CONEXPO

The early CONEXPO shows benefited from the support of key industry associations, including forerunners of the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) and the American Road and Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA). With each subsequent event, CONEXPO broadened its scope, experiencing rapid growth during the construction industry’s prosperous “boom years” following World War II.

International Expansion and Relocation of CONEXPO

The 1970s marked a period of internationalization for CONEXPO, as it began to welcome exhibiting companies from overseas and established an international business center. In the 1980s, to accommodate its increasing number of attendees and exhibits, the show found a new, larger home in Las Vegas.

The Origins of CON/AGG

Similar to CONEXPO, the CON/AGG show traces its roots back to the early 1900s. It started as manufacturers’ exhibits held during the annual conventions of the organizations that would later become the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA) and the National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA).

The Evolution and Merger of CON/AGG

In 1970, the event officially adopted the name “The International Concrete and Aggregates Show.” A significant milestone was reached in 1996 when CON/AGG joined forces with CONEXPO. This merger created an unparalleled display of equipment, products, and services for the construction industry, establishing the combined show as the definitive international gathering place for the sector. Attendees and exhibitors recognized the considerable time and cost savings of attending a single, comprehensive show held every three years.

Record-Breaking Success in 2017

The 2017 edition of CONEXPO-CON/AGG achieved remarkable success, spanning over 2.8 million net square feet of exhibits and hosting a record-breaking 2,800-plus exhibitors. The show also attracted nearly 128,000 attendees throughout the week, underscoring its importance and reach within the global construction industry.
