Fresh Perspectives on Concrete Promotion Promotion
is more than golf, lunch and entertaining. When it comes
to converting an owner or engineer to considering
concrete construction, new tools and a clear strategy
are needed. The Concrete Council of St. Louis will share
information about its tools including Client Profile
Reports, design innovations to reduce initial costs,
financing alternatives to monetize life-cycle cost
savings, “packaging” public projects to create new
demand, development of a municipal inspection iPhone app
and an ongoing program of seminars and training for our
customers and prospects. These all resulted from

THE MIDTERMS ARE OVER—NOW WHAT??
The concrete industry, along with
the rest of the nation, has been watching the mid-term
election process with keen interest. Now that the
ballots are counted and races called, what can we expect
to see from this new Congress? How will changes on the
Hill affect the nation and specifically our industry, on issues such as transportation funding, taxes, and regulatory reform.
BUILD WITH STRENGTH—COALITION UPDATE
Build With Strength continues it’s program of educating
the building and design communities and policymakers on
the benefits of using ready mixed concrete as THE
material of choice in low– to mid -rise structures.
Since it’s beginnings in 2016, significant progress has
been made, but challenges still abound, such as the
recent ICC vote on tall wood buildings. Learn what has
been happening and how you can leverage the Build with
Strength resources to engage in the fight for the future
of the concrete industry!
PAVE AHEAD—TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE
RESOURCE FOR LOCAL PAVING
As more local jurisdictions look to stretch their
transportation infrastructure dollars, rigid pavements
are being incorporated into their design standards as
viable options with initial costs, many times, near
other alternatives. However, institutional knowledge
regarding design, construction, inspection, and
maintenance of rigid pavements may be lacking or out of
date. The Rigid Pavement Technical Assistance Resource
for Local Jurisdictions facilitates the adoption of
various forms of rigid pavements at the city and county
level by assisting with the tasks of designing,
specifying, detailing, constructing, and maintaining
various rigid pavement types, as well as including
information about other important topics such as
sustainability which are becoming more and more
important. In this session, the resource guide will be
presented and discussed in terms of its use in promotion
and technical support for local paving.
