Derek Torres
Project Manager, Concrete Promotion

Mr. Torres is the Project Manager, Concrete Promotion for the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association. Based in Philadelphia, he assists the building and pavement promotion team by identifying and educating developers, architects, engineers and contractors about the benefits and advantages of concrete over asphalt, wood, and steel in hopes of converting projects to concrete. Before joining the NRMCA, Torres worked as a quality control technician for Silvi Group Companies for major concrete projects throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey. His day-to-day responsibilities included performing ACI field tests, ensuring aggregates and cement met DOT specifications, developed new mix designs, and ensured that the plants were up to date with their certifications. Mr. Torres attended the New Jersey Institute of Technology where he holds a Bachelor of Science in Architecture along with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology with Concrete Industry Management (CIM). He also has a minor in Business.
