Event Description: A Pathway to Energy and Disaster Resilience. This course will offer a view on emerging risks and opportunities as human and economic losses from disasters increase, with the overarching goal of supporting and advancing resilience in future construction. It will describe why and how innovative concrete systems like Insulating Concrete Forms are helping transform the way we can build energy and disaster resistant buildings.

  • Registration (7:30 am – 8:00 am)
     

  • Part 1 (morning 8:00 am – 12:00 pm) will cover the design and economic aspects of Insulating Concrete Forms to exceed the latest energy and disaster resilience standards. This section is targeted to architects, engineers, developers, policy makers and government officials. Concrete contractors and product suppliers may also benefit.
     

  • Lunch (12:00 – 1:00 pm)
     

  • Part 2 (afternoon 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm) will cover the installation and construction aspects of Insulating Concrete Forms. This section is targeted to contractors with detailed classroom and hands-on instruction. Design professionals, developers, policy makers and government officials are welcome to participate.


Fee: The is a free event sponsored by the Commonwealth of Kentucky, Office of Energy Policy.

Event Description: Lighter, faster and more cost effective than other forms of construction, Insulating Concrete Forms (ICFs) are quickly becoming the construction method of choice for all forms of construction including single and multifamily, hotels, schools, and offices. Concrete contractors, masons and framers have an opportunity to learn how their trade can work with ICFs to enhance their competitiveness in today’s construction environment. This course will give you the training you need to begin building with one of the fastest growing building systems on the market – ICFs.



Agenda:

  • 7:30 am – Continental Breakfast
     

  • 8:00 am – 12:00 pm ICF Contractor Training
     

    • Demonstrate the specific characteristics of ICFs

    • Describe the benefits of ICF construction

    • Explain the construction advantages and efficiencies

    • Demonstrate the interaction between trades and ICF installation requirements and techniques

    • Recognize that ICF technology can expand your business opportunities.
