Scope and Objectives: The scope of the committee is to coordinate building code and sustainability standards activities of NRMCA. The committee works with other NRMCA committees, State Affiliates, and national allies to support and promulgate the adoption of buildings codes where none exist and helps develop and support amendments to local and national codes where they are deficient. The committee reviews and submits recommendations to the International Code Council (ICC), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and other code development organizations. The committee actively interfaces with other NRMCA committees, State Affiliates, and national allies to assist in the technical aspects of sustainability standards including United States Green Building Council (USGBC) LEED Green Building Rating System, Green Building Initiative (GBI) Green Globes and other sustainability standards. The committee develops and reviews technical publications on building codes and sustainability and implements training for members, designers and contractors related to building codes and sustainability.
