DO you want to get your share of the 88 million cubic yards of concrete potential for parking lots? NRMCA wants to help you.

Five Steps to Successful Parking Lot Promotion is a compilation of the best of the two most popular break-out sessions from the North American Concrete Alliance Professional Promoters’ Workshop. It is a perfect complement to the new NRMCA Concrete Parking Promotion Flip-Chart Pitch Book.

As the superiority of concrete parking lots is increasingly matched with a first-cost concrete advantage, the biggest challenge in growing market share will be overcoming the inertia of a marketplace where asphalt has been dominant. The opportunity is large, the trends are positive—and promotion is more important than ever.

Five Steps to Successful Parking Lot Promotion will help you hone your promotion skills. This informative one-hour webinar includes:

  • Tips for Prospecting

  • Utilizing Your Promotion Tools

  • Remember ALL Your Options

  • Tips to Staying Professional

The program also offers a review of the NRMCA’s new Parking Lot design Assistance Program, the Buildings Under Design (BUD) Online Lead Program, and the popular NRMCA Concrete Pavement Analyst software.

Gathering and Using Local Project Information Using “B.U.D.”
Buildings Under Design (BUD) is a web-based national project lead service that enables local promoters to get information on projects long before the plans and specifications are on the street.  Relying on a network of established and trusted sources from around the nation and select foreign countries, BUD publishes this information in a perpetual format that allows the user to track projects from conception to completion.  With the ability to have project decision makers identified early also, locals will maximize the industries efforts for pro-concrete choices.

Green-Star Auditor Orientation

The New NRMCA Green-Star Certification program requires the use of Accredited Auditors. The Green-Star Auditor Webinar will be a required Webinar to be Accredited as a Green-Star Auditor.  This Webinar will explain the educational and work experience needed to be an Accredited Green-Star Auditor as well as continuing educational requirements to keep the certification.   At the conclusion of the Webinar, the student will understand the requirements to be an accredited Green-Star Auditor and the expectations that accompany certification.  There is no fee for this Webinar.

Green-Star Orientation
Come learn about the NRMCA’s new Green-Star program that's geared to recognize facilities that have implemented an Environmental Management System (EMS) based on continuous improvement.  The facility can use its own existing systems rather than create a stand alone EMS system.

Introduction to STEPS - NRMCA's
Seminar, Training and Education Programs

This webinar outlines a new, all-encompassing, umbrella certification program developed under the auspice of NRMCA’s Board of Directors.  The Board tasked NRMCA to have in place an industry-wide, professional development certification program that ties producer job-related career paths to NRMCA, producer and state association training, with the goal of augmenting producers’ recruitment and retention efforts. The webinar will cover how the program works, program requirements, the four career certification tracks, the application process, transferring credit and the graduation (certification) application process.

Managing Returned Concrete and Wash Water at a Ready Mixed Concrete Plant: Every year, it is estimated that 2% to 10% (average of 5%) of the estimated 455 million cubic yards of ready mixed concrete produced in the U.S. (est. 2006) is returned to the concrete plant. Also it is estimated that 150 gallons of water is used to wash out a ready mixed concrete truck every day.  There is also a lot of process water generated AT READY MIXED PLANTS, including stormwater which MUST BE treated as process water if allowed to commingle with process water. A ready mixed concrete producer SHOULD handle the returned concrete and water from concreting operations at a plant in a sustainable commercially viable manner. This Webinar will discuss the various options of handling returned concrete – in particular the recent research work conducted at NRMCA on the use of crushed concrete aggregates for new concrete. The Webinar will discuss the options in reusing water from concrete production operations. Technical and operational issues will be covered.

NRMCA Promotion Resources Review:  The promotion team at NRMCA in coordination with many state associations has recently launched or updated numerous promotion tools and resources. Concrete promoters and others interested in this information are invited to participate in an overview of the full spectrum of NRMCA promotion resources and tools, including tours of new promoter and specifier-oriented Web sites hosted by Nick Muzzatti, NRMCA’s internal operations coordinator.

An Overview of the NRMCA Industry Data and Compensation Surveys: This Webinar will cover the elements of NRMCA's  Industry Data and Compensation surveys.

Overview of Inspecting Concrete Plants
This Webinar was designed to give an overview of the NRMCA plant inspection process which is addressed in the Plant Inspector Guide. The Webinar is intended for ready mixed producers and plant inspectors. *Special for NRMCA member concrete producers only: The NRMCA Plant Inspector Guide is available for $40 for a limited time only. Inspectors seeking the NRMCA Plant Inspector Guide and Qualifications package please contact Karen Bean at kbean@nrmca.org.

Understanding Antitrust Laws
Price fixing, bid rigging, and market allocation are economic crimes with potentially devastating effects on the U.S. economy. Such crimes rob purchasers, contribute to inflation, destroy public confidence in the national economy, and undermine our system of free enterprise. Violations of the U.S. antitrust laws can lead to criminal prosecution resulting in severe criminal and civil penalties, including imprisonment. NRMCA’s webinar entitled “Understanding Antitrust Laws” will review the basics of antitrust laws and will provide real world examples of the kinds of anticompetitive behavior that should be avoided in the ready mixed concrete industry.

Webinar participants will learn to navigate the BUD website, identify potential projects and key decision makers for concrete parking, ICF, and other structures, how to save the projects into a file, track follow up and update project information.

Wal-Mart Sustainable Development
Wal-Mart has taken a leadership position in deploying sustainable technologies in many of its stores. It has also developed two experimental stores that deploy a massive array of new technologies as a test bed to their effectiveness. Everything from solar and wind power to pervious concrete has been utilized. This Webinar highlights some of the technologies, both concrete and other types, and will open your mind to the myriad of possibilities that exist to improve our built environment.
